Domestic Missions
In 2024, the diocese established a Domestic Missions Committee. The purpose of the committee is to encourage and support future domestic missions (church plants) within the diocese.
There are many major and mid-sized cities with few (if any) G-3 parishes nearby. Our intention is to prioritize those communities with an existing Mission Community, a Remnant, or some other nucleus of faithful laity.
The normal process for creating a new mission in the DHT is for the members of such a nucleus to contact the diocese and indicate their intention to pursue mission status. The committee is available to help with the startup process, including locating suitable worship space and interim or permanent clergy. Qualified missions are eligible for seed funding to accelerate the path to independent parish status.
