The Ordination of Fr. Andrew Harrah

On August 15, Bishop Stephen Scarlett ordained Deacon Andrew Harrah in a service held at St. Matthew’s Church in Newport Beach. Fr. Harrah was previous ordained a deacon at the same church in June 2023.

Nearly 90 people attended in person, and more than 190 people viewed the livestreamed service from the church’s YouTube channel. From within the diocese, the attendees included both representatives of St. Matthew’s and St. Thomas in Fullerton, where then-Mr. Harrah  previously served as an acolyte and subdeacon.

The service also reflected the strong ties between the diocese and the Anglican Province of Christ the King. The APCK was represented by attendees from two Arizona churches: Christ Anglican Church in Carefree, and St. Alban’s in Peoria. Deacon Harrah served as a curate at Christ Anglican under Fr. Dart from August 2023 through July 2024.

After the ordination, Bp. Scarlett issued letters dimissory to Fr. Harrah, who was immediately received by Bp. Peter Hansen of the APCK. Fr. Harrah is now vicar at St. Alban’s.

A native of Newport Beach and raised in Irvine, Fr. Harrah holds a B.A. from Concordia University Irvine, an M.A. from Cal State Fullerton and an M.A. from Biola’s Talbot School of Theology. He previously served in the Marine Corps Reserve and taught history for Great Hearts Academies. He and his wife Corrie have three sons.
