This Friday will bring the 48th annual synod of the Diocese of the Holy Trinity, to be held in Newport Beach. Delegates from the four parishes and two missions of the diocese — as well as the various diocesan committees — will gather for a business meeting, worship and fellowship.
The Synod will begin with the Synod Mass, followed by lunch, the business meeting, Evening Prayer and dinner. In addition to the annual budget review, the business meeting will feature reports from the major diocesan committees: the Standing Committee, Commission on Ministry and Overseas Mission Committee.
Also on the agenda is for the synod delegates to endorse the creation of a new Domestic Missions Committee (which, like all new committees must be approved by the Standing Committee). The new committee will assist in forming and growing missions within the diocese, and develop policies and resources to help the success of these missions.
